Kathmandu University and the Nepal Children’s Organization(NCO) have joined forces to provide scholarships to deserving students under the care of the organization. This agreement ensures that at least two children who have completed Class 12 from NCO will receive full scholarships to pursue their academic aspirations at Kathmandu University.
The official signing ceremony took place at the university’s central campus in Dhulikhel on Sunday. Manish Pokharel, Dean of the School of Engineering, represented the university, while Bidya Upadhyay Neupane, President of the Nepal Children’s Organization, signed on behalf of the organization.
This partnership extends beyond scholarships. The agreement also outlines a collaborative effort to uplift and support the well-being of children in the organization. Kathmandu University has agreed to explore the possibility of establishing an engineering program and constructing new facilities on land owned by the Children’s Organization in Panchkhal, Kavre. Additionally, plans are underway to restore the existing building on the site.
Expressing his pride in the initiative, the Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, stated, “We are honored to contribute to the future of these children through scholarships. The generosity of Panchkhal towards both the university and the children is truly commendable.”
President Neupane echoed this sentiment, expressing her delight at securing a brighter future for the children in their care through this collaboration. “We are thrilled to partner with a leading and visionary educational institution like Kathmandu University for the advancement of these children,” Neupane remarked.
This agreement is set for a ten-year renewal, ensuring continued support for deserving children under the Nepal Children’s Organization. With branches across all 77 districts of Nepal, the organization currently provides care for over 360 children.
